My Introductory Letter to President Obama -- January 20, 2009

January 20, 2009

Dear President Obama,

It is my hope that your predecessor, President Bush, has informed you of my letter-writing effort to addressees of power, authority, and influence beginning in November, 1991. Without going into a lot of explanation here, from the enclosed materials you will learn that it has been a 'given' to me since early 1989 that Christ was telling His apostles in Luke 21:25a and Matthew 24:29-30a that He was planning to return to earth sometime after the year 1999 on our calendar and not before. Additionally, with the help of a very good psychiatrist between October, 1989 through June, 1991, by October 21, 1991 I determined that I was meant to publicize this interpretation of Matthew 24:29-30a to the world-at-large, which I began to do through a simple and straightforward letter-writing effort one month later in November, 1991 which is still ongoing. At various times during 1989-1990, I was undoubtedly the world's greatest believer in the popularly-taught and widely-accepted End Times scenario of Antichrist, Armageddon, Seven Years of Tribulation (1992-1999), Rapture, etc. prior to Christ's return. On December 13, 1990, however, I began to question this cataclysmic scenario and by the end of 1991, I concluded that this dire scenario that is embraced by most Christians and Bible scholars is actually a myth and is a departure from reality.

Since I began my letter-writing effort to those in the highest positions of power and authority in late 1991, I have been in a very small minority of prophecy enthusiasts in that I believe that the years leading up to Christ's return to earth are in the hands of current world leaders with America--even with its present problems and challenges--in the vanguard in terms of leadership and influence. An example of this is a letter that I wrote to the embassies of the Mideast nations in Washington, D.C. in February, 1999 in which I expressed my speculation that Christ's return to earth is contingent with the attainment of a genuine and comprehensive Mideast peace agreement between Israel and her remaining Arab neighbors: Syria, Lebanon, and the Palestinian Authority. I continue to see this as a good working speculation if, for no other reason, for the lack of a better speculation.

At one time, I was disappointed in myself in that I have failed to get the memoir-type manuscript that I wrote in 1993 published so that this interpretation of Matthew 24:29-30a could be known to the general public. I would learn that in a world in which the vast majority of the general public does not possess a natural interest or curiosity in the science of astronomy or Christ's statements recorded in Luke 21:25a and Matthew 24:29-30a, a targeted letter-writing effort is the most that such a person can do and still be able to live a normal and enjoyable life. (Perhaps, it is for the best that my manuscript has not been published.)

Also enclosed is a folder of copies of correspondence that I have received resulting from my letter-writing effort. Instead of sending this folder to Secretary of State Clinton, I am sending it to you as three pieces of correspondence are from Secretary Clinton when she was our nation's First Lady. Since Secretary Clinton is, at least, somewhat familiar with my writing effort, she can undoubtedly be of assistance to you in understanding the goals and objectives of my writing effort.

Attached to this letter is a copy of my introductory letter to President Bush dated February 7, 2001, which I soon realized would also be a good introductory letter for succeeding presidents. When I wrote this letter eight years ago, however, I assumed that Christ would have returned to earth before 2009. But as I have learned from my own unique and unusual experiences during 1988-1993, why things happen in the way that they do often cannot be fully understood without the passage of enough time and only with the benefit of hindsight. Similarly, our continued wait for Christ's return has allowed the American electorate an opportunity to make a choice in November, 2008 that did much towards righting a very grievous injustice in America's past with your historic election as our first African-American president.

As you well know, our nation faces many economic and foreign challenges. It would not surprise me if the massive monetary and fiscal stimulus now being used to end the current economic recession leads to negative unintended consequences at a later time. But there seems to be a consensus among experts that this is the lesser of two evils to choose from. While I hope that your team of advisors gives you the best recommendations that they can for our nation's economic ills, I see you, just as importantly, providing our nation's citizens with much-needed inspiration and encouragement through your great oratory skills during the coming years, much as FDR and President Reagan did during the challenging economic times of their presidencies.

After 17 years, my letter-writing has been less frequent in recent months and is almost solely focused on the embassies of the Mideast nations in Washington, D.C. In my letter to the embassies of Israel and her Arab neighbors dated March 19, 2008, I wrote, "I have long been aware that I seldom give you 'sage words of wisdom' in my letters to you but I have also long been aware that a comprehensive Mideast peace agreement should obviously be in the best interests of all parties involved." All future letters that you will receive from me will almost certainly be my preference of simply written, one page hand-written cover letters with very few attachments.

I will close this letter with a quote (that you are likely already aware of) from an extraordinary man that is appropriate for you at this time in history:

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy." --- Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

May God guide you, Mr. President, with the wisdom that you will need as you approach the challenges and opportunities that our nation faces in the coming months and years, particularly in the arenas of foreign policy.

Sincerely Yours,

(Supersweet101) Hannibal, MO 63401
